Sexologist
Intimacy and relationships are vital parts of life, yet many life events—such as the birth of a child, illness, trauma, or significant life transitions—can disrupt our emotional and sexual well-being. These experiences can place significant stress on our connections with ourselves and our partners. Unfortunately, many people carry their intimate concerns in silence, feeling isolated in their struggles.
As a clinical sexologist, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space where you can address these often-taboo subjects. Together, we will explore your concerns and search for practical, compassionate solutions tailored to your unique situation. Seeking help is a courageous step. You are welcomed into a space of respect, openness, and honesty, where your most intimate worries will be met with understanding and care.
Couples counseling
Relationships can be incredibly fulfilling, but they also come with challenges. Over time, even the strongest couples may face communication breakdowns, unresolved conflicts, emotional distance, or life transitions that strain their connection.
Most often, couples counseling begins with an individual request for help and includes both individual sessions with each partner and joint sessions together. This approach allows each person to be heard in a strictly confidential setting, while also working together on the shared goal of finding solutions for the couple in order to make it stronger and more fulfilling. Couples counseling offers a supportive, non-judgmental space where both partners can openly explore their concerns and work toward a healthier, more connected relationship. Counseling helps couples improve communication, (re)build trust, and navigate conflict more effectively.
Family counseling
Family counseling offers a supportive space for families of all kinds to navigate conflict, life transitions, and communication challenges. Whether it's parenting through divorce, helping a teenager through a difficult time, or addressing generational tensions, every family member is given space to be heard and understood.
LGBTQ+ topics can also be explored, such as coming out, family acceptance, parenting as a same-sex couple, or planning for children in nontraditional family structures. This work can strengthen family bonds and help create a more understanding, resilient home environment.
About me
About me
I began my career in healthcare, qualifying as a midwife in 1999. When back problems forced me to leave clinical midwifery, my desire to remain connected to healthcare led me to rethink my professional path.
Across the different roles that followed, the same things consistently brought me fulfilment: explaining, empowering and creating connection. My interest broadened beyond healthcare to family life, relationships, emotions and sexuality, eventually leading me towards counseling.
Life itself added valuable perspectives along the way. Raising my children, moving and living abroad and returning back to Belgium, working in education and caring for families from different cultural backgrounds have all shaped my understanding of people, families and the different contexts in which we live and relate. In 2019, the opportunity to create my own consultation space in Grimbergen finally allowed HI Nest to take shape.
Since then, I have completed the Master’s in Family and Sexuality Studies I had started before moving abroad and obtained a University Certificate in Applied Clinical Sexology, both at UCLouvain. I am currently specialising further in solution-focused counseling and continue to regularly update my knowledge through professional training.
Today, all that experience comes together in a broad, grounded and holistic approach to people, relationships and sexuality.

My values
Openness
An open and curious attitude is essential — toward others, the world, ourselves and what emerges within the therapeutic relationship. Different perspectives are welcomed without judgement.
Sincerity
A genuine therapeutic relationship requires room for what we really think, feel and experience. Sincerity creates space for things to be said, explored and questioned openly.
Autonomy
Your choices, values and goals remain your own. Counseling offers space to explore possibilities and gain new perspectives, while respecting your freedom to decide what feels right for you.
Honesty
Strengths, possibilities and limitations are approached honestly. This also means being transparent about what I can and cannot offer, when another professional may be better placed to help, and what you can expect — including clear and transparent fees.
Holistic
Each person is approached as a whole, with attention to their story, body, emotions, relationships, sexuality, health, environment and life stage — and to how these different aspects influence one another.
Solution- & Systemic-Focused
Attention goes not only to the current situation, but also to what maintains it and how relationships and context influence it. Rather than focusing solely on problems, the approach also looks at what is already working well, what could be different and which changes could help the situation evolve in a meaningful and lasting way.
Science, Innovation & Common Sense
My work is informed by current scientific knowledge, while remaining open to innovation and new insights. Science provides a solid foundation, but good therapeutic care also requires professional experience, attention to your individual situation and a healthy dose of common sense.
Multidisciplinary
When useful, I work with trusted professionals from different disciplines, always respecting existing care relationships and referrals.
Grounded in science. Holistic in approach. Compassionate in practice.
My vision
Every person and every relationship deserves to be understood in its full context.
Relationships, sexuality and emotions are complex and constantly evolving. Taking a step back can create space for new perspectives, helping us recognise strengths and possibilities and explore concrete ways forward.
Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a sex therapist do?
A sex therapist or sexologist supports individuals and couples with questions or difficulties related to sexuality, intimacy, and relationships. Sex therapy is actually a specific form of talk therapy. Although the word may sound intriguing, it is simply a safe and respectful space to talk, understand, and rebuild connection and pleasure. Sex therapy often includes three main elements. First, psychoeducation, in which the sexologist provides information about the physical, psychological, and relational aspects of sexuality. This helps strengthen sexual understanding and skills. Second, depending on the issue, specific exercises may be suggested. Singles or couples receive home assignments to try in a safe and private setting, and in couples therapy both partners are actively involved. During the next session, experiences are discussed and possible blockages or inhibitions are explored. Finally, sometimes it is necessary to explore the deeper causes of the problem. The sexologist helps uncover and transform underlying emotions, beliefs, or patterns, creating space for a more relaxed and fulfilling sexuality.
How does a session at a sex therapist work?
An initial session with the sexologist always begins with a thorough anamnesis. This aims to get to know you well and to understand your personal context. We review your medical history, family situation, work environment, and all the factors that shape who you are. This step is essential, as sexual difficulties can never be addressed outside their broader context. Whether you are retired, have just welcomed a baby, or are entering a new phase of life – context always influences the therapeutic approach. This anamnesis may take one or two sessions. Afterwards, we define your specific care question together and discuss your concerns in detail. Only then can we proceed to talk therapy or a tailored treatment program. Most sex therapy treatments typically involve between ten and twenty sessions.
Are men welcome?
Yes, men are absolutely welcome. Anyone can consult, regardless of gender or age. Men, just like women, often need a safe space to talk about their concerns — whether they relate to intimacy, sexuality, love, parenthood, or family relationships. For sex therapy as well as couple's or family counseling, men are welcome to reach out.
Are you a psychologist?
No. I am a clinical sexologist and counselor, with a Master’s in Family and Sexuality Studies and a certification in applied clinical sexology. My counseling focuses on sexuality, relationships, couples and families. When a concern falls outside my area of expertise, I discuss this openly with you and together we consider whether a referral to another professional would be appropriate.
Are your consultations covered by the Belgian convention system?
No. As a clinical sexologist, I am currently not eligible to participate in the convention system. Some health insurance funds do, however, provide partial reimbursement for consultations with a recognised clinical sexologist. The amount and conditions vary between health insurance funds.
How can I book, cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Appointments can easily be made through my online calendar on Rosa.be, at your convenience. Up to 48 hours before your appointment, you can also cancel or reschedule it yourself through Rosa.be. After that, you can contact me directly by email or message. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment will be charged.
Can partners each speak their own language during a session?
Yes. Consultations can take place in Dutch, French and English. During a session, we can easily switch between these languages, allowing each partner to express themselves in the language they feel most comfortable with.
How does couples counseling work?
Couples counseling can start with a session together or separately, depending on what you prefer. This is followed by one or more individual sessions, which can be alternated with sessions as a couple. Individual sessions give each partner the space to speak freely, revisit what came up during a couples session and take the time to consider what they want to discuss with their partner and how. This creates room for both individual perspectives and what happens within the relationship.
I’m struggling with something sexual or relationship-related, but I’m currently single. Is it still worth seeking counseling?
Yes. Even when you’re single, you can explore what is going on, gain a better understanding of your emotional and sexual functioning, and work on what you would like to change. You certainly don’t need a partner to start counseling.
Will what I tell you remain confidential, including during couples counseling?
Yes. Everything discussed during counseling is treated confidentially, in accordance with professional confidentiality and the VVS/SSUB Code of Deontology. This also applies to individual sessions within couples counseling. What you share during an individual session is not automatically shared with your partner: you decide what you wish to discuss during joint sessions. When needed, we can explore together how certain topics could be brought into the conversation.
How is my personal data protected?
I handle your personal data with care and do not store any identifiable client information on my computer. In my own working documents, only a personal code is used. Your personal data is stored in Rosa. You enter this information yourself and, where necessary, we complete it together during the first consultation. I may also ask for your identity card to make sure your details are complete and correct.
